Potassium sulfate is a colorless crystalline chemical commonly used as a fertilizer. With the chemical formula K2SO4, it consists of potassium and sulfate ions. Potassium sulfate appears as odorless crystals or a white powder that is highly soluble in water. As a fertilizer, it dissolves in soil to release potassium and sulfate, important plant nutrients that boost crop growth and yields. In addition to agriculture, potassium sulfate has industrial uses in glassmaking, detergents and some pharmaceuticals due its constituent elements. It is generally non-toxic.
